Audio 3D, Binaural, or Ambisonic all have one meaning: new sound experiences for 360° videos and VR games.

Binaural audio replicates the functioning of the human auditory system. Human anatomy plays a fundamental role in how sound waves are perceived, decoded and analyzed by the human brain. The head, with its mass and “bulk,” ensures that a sound arriving first at the left ear takes a few microseconds longer to reach the right ear. This technique was born over a century ago and is capable of replicating the functioning of the human auditory system.

Ambisonic is a technology dating back to the 1970s that still has unique and absolutely valid characteristics. The limited spread of this technology was solely due to the failure of the quadraphonic system, which failed to meet expectations. However, the Ambisonics system remains one of the most comprehensive microphone and sound reproduction systems for 360° videos because it allows for the preservation of all spatial sound information, enabling simple decoding of the signal with video applications and in Virtual Reality.

VR and 360° videos can now deceive our eyes very well, but video producers can underestimate the most immersive part of the 360° experience:

audio.

There are thousands of videos on YouTube proposing 3D audio, but many of these are just stereo recordings that interact crudely and with little detail with the visual part, mostly enjoying a placebo effect that superficially deceives our brain.

What I want to bring to the 360° world is the level of audio detail we are accustomed to from high-budget films and video games. A detailed and immersive experience that seamlessly integrates with your images, a completely real experience.
