Sound Design is the manipulation and creation of sound to evoke emotions and aid audience connection. As a sound designer, I work closely with directors and production, creating the sound world through effects, textures and environments, creating realistic or abstract sounds.
Foley Art is the reproduction and studio recording of everyday sounds and noises, added in films, videos and other media to enhance the viewer’s experience. My goal is to create a sense of reality in the scene, remembering that the foley artist’s work must be so well integrated with the video as not to be noticed.
In some productions, there may not be a budget for an audio professional on set, so we try to achieve the best result with the available means. In these cases, I am the right person for cleaning recordings, volume optimization, or attempting to salvage ruined recordings.
